All good things must come to an end. This has been said over and over again but I can’t get that sentence out of my head today. The 2020-2021 season from the Buffalo Bills was one of the most exciting and impressive seasons of football I’ve ever watched in my life. With a 38-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills are officially knocked out of the playoffs and will not be advancing to the Super Bowl this year.

To put it simply. It sucks. It sucks that such a great season had to end so abruptly in a way that no Bills fan intended it would. We came in with the wrong gameplan on both sides of the ball and Andy Reid and company came in with the right one. Our defense couldn’t stop anyone (especially Kelce) and it seemed like KC could just do whatever they wanted. But even with this painful loss, there’s a lot of good to take away from this season. People like to fixate on the negative and it may be easier to do so, but I’m an optimist and this team has a very bright future ahead of them.
The first positive I drew from this game was seen at the end of it. With the score lopsided, the Chiefs had the game locked up late in the fourth quarter. The Bills fought on their final drive but came up empty and when Josh Allen and the offense left the field Josh walked up to every one of his teammates and embraced them. This shows raw leadership. A lot of so-called leaders would have hung their heads or left the field early. I’ve seen it time and time again. But for Josh to find each one of his guys and show them love should mean the world to everyone in Bills Mafia. I love Josh Allen and I love the quarterback and leader he has become. He will be great for a long time, and so will this football team.
The second thing I found positive was on that same final possession it started to get chippy and the Chiefs really started beating up on Allen. Josh Allen was sacked again for a deep loss and he was taken down hard after the whistle. This wasn’t the first time someone was blatantly knocked down late or with malice in this game. When Josh was sacked he flicked the ball at Okafor’s helmet and Okafor then proceeded to get in Josh Allen’s face. Dion Dawkins and Feliciano came quickly to have his back and pushed the defender to the ground starting a small scrap. I found this positive because those big guys, the offensive lineman, are supposed to have their quarterbacks back no matter the situation. The retaliation ended in multiple penalties but their acts meant much more than a 15-yard penalty. I loved seeing our players have each other’s back.
And lastly, I’m sure all of you have seen the pictures and clips of Stefon Diggs watching the Chiefs celebrate another trip to the Super Bowl. These videos and pictures had a certain Kobe Bryant energy to it. Stefon knows his Bills team is great and they will be back. He knows it’s time to work and he will bring that work and Hall of Fame mindset until he helps bring the city of Buffalo the Lombardi Trophy.
There are so many positive moments from this season. So many great plays and memories that I’ll never forget. These Bills are special and we can expect special things for years to come. I think we can expect a new AFC rivalry between the Bills and the Chiefs as well because these Bills won’t lay down and die so easily.
The 2020-21 season is over for us, but the good times are just beginning.
Go Bills forever…
