A lot of Bills fans don’t see today as much of a test, but I do. If you recall last year around this same time, the Bills took on the winless Miami Dolphins at home. The Dolphins took a lead into half and were yards away from making it a two score game late in the 3rd quarter. Thankfully, Tre White had one of his signature plays as a Bill and intercepted Ryan Fitzpatrick on the goal line to keep the game in reach for the Bills. The Bills ended up winning the game. Ugly win but they got the job done.
This week is far too similar in my eyes. Darnold coming in Hungry after an injury, the Bills injury DEPLETED, our defense not being able to stop a freshman football team, and the Jets being BOUND TO WIN at some point. The Jets are not going to go 0-16, it is just so rare and few and far between. By no means am I saying that we are going to lose, I am just saying that I am somewhat scared.
Personally, I am not sure how I would approach the game plan if I am the Bills coaching staff. To some degree you do not want to put Josh Allen in harms way against a Gregg Williams defense but this game is a MUST win. I think that we need to somehow eventually get the run game going but today is not the day to mess around…. UNLESS we are up by a good chunk. I would attack the Jets over the air. I would bombard Diggs and Beasley with targets. If we start to get down and we aren't moving the ball over the air, expect Josh Allen to get some yards on the ground. Also a sleeper today for a big game is TJ Yeldon. He has been our most effective running back so I am curious as to if Brian Daboll rolls with the hot hand.
This is a must win today. I am scared. If we lose there will be some changes in some way. I hope that we can prove our worth today as a AFC Championship game contender.
